I was very happy you were able to come and share the table with us. Having people over is part of our tradition, it is a sign of being blessed. Gracias…
German was our first recorded conversation for Listening to Mitchell. While working with him at Allen-Field (he’s a third grade teacher) we picked up a bit of his past and indelible connection to the street.
At his home, in the Milwaukee’s Garden District, we delved deeper.
In 2000, he emigrated as a seminarian from Columbia, landing at St. Anthony’s on Mitchell Street. He arrived with little language and fewer belongings. German shared his story, as well as a delicious home cooked meal — a beautiful way to get into interviews.
