The Mitchell Street Sun Fair kicked off Milwaukee’s summer of festivals in a way only Mitchell Street could. The whirring motors and flashing lights of carnival rides were nestled amongst the street’s historic architecture, with a sea of revelers, young and old, dashing from ride to ride. At St. Anthony’s, they’re selling tacos, hamburgers, cookies, brownies, and pineapple cakes for a fundraiser. A rep from St. Anthony’s announced over their PA system, “Confessions are free but concessions aren’t!”
We joined in the Sun Fair fun, kicking off Listening to Mitchell with a display table amongst the festivities. We met a number of wonderful people and soaked in a massive dose of Mitchell’s boundless energy.
