While a public art installation at its core, to produce a public art installation embedded in a place as complex as Mitchell Street, Listening to Mitchell needed to be a hybrid. At times, we did our best to think like organizers, politicians, fund raisers, project managers, planners and more — not to mention artists. For that reason, we invited a broad range of community leaders working on the South Side for the full Listening to Mitchell treatment. The group spent an afternoon touring the installation, unpacking our process, and dialoguing about the successes/challenges of the project.
Thank you to our guests from 16th Street Community Health Center, KK River Parkway, Urban Anthropology Inc., Lincoln Village, Cesar Chavez Drive BID, South 27th Street BID, and Zilber Family Foundation.
